It was an interesting book and kept ne turning the pages even though non-fiction is often not to my taste. Two stories wind back and forth, one telling of the lead architect, Daniel Burnham, who planned and saw to fruition the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. However, I found myself totally captivated instead by all the details of getting the World's Fair of 1893 underway in Chicago. He's obviously taken a lot of time and energy to get things right. Even if the author wasn't in every World's Fair Planning meeting or watching the evil H.H. Holmes murdering one of his victims you still get a sense that "this happened" and he backs up his quotes with their sources at the end of the story, which flies along nicely for the most part.
